Yep, you got it …69. Wow, that is some record.

Personally I’d have been happier had this figure been 64 and our other 5 goals split with an extra 2 against MFU and Fulham and just the one at Bolton. But, I’ll settle for seeing a league game 7 goal haul for the first time ever at Ashburton (We did do Slavia 7-0 four or five years ago in the CL) and for the first time since Middlesbrough in 2005-6.

Can’t say that anyone played outstandingly well, though Tomas, Ox, Robin and le Coq were getting most things right but as Blackburn were so chronic they didn’t have to, but it was good to see Theo staying awake, running on to some lovely passes, that from Alex being extra special, and laying on three (Did somebody warn him that Vinho will be back in a couple of weeks and the Ox is playing too well to be dropped?).

For prime idiocy, a stupid two footed tackle when you’re already 3-1 down just about takes the biscuit. Blackburn weren’t good with 11. With 10 they were pathetic.

Robin grabbed another three goal tally as well as making wonderful chances for the Ox’s first and then taking pity on the old man laid it on for Thierry to get his first Premier league goal in nearly five years. The Ox, once again producing fear down the flanks, opened his league account with two well taken goals. The first from Robin’s lovely through ball was very well taken. A blast from Mikel was probably the furthest we’ve scored from this year.

Now I don’t wish to be a bearer of ‘orrid news, but I do hope that somebody reminds the squad that after a big win, we have a nasty habit of losing the next game…and the Stadium of Light isn’t the happiest ground for us in recent years..
