I agree, I prefer Verm and Kos against quicker teams that actually play football, and then Mertesaker in there when we play against route one rugby teams like Stoke.
Vermaelen and koscielny, good balance between safety and aggressive defending. Mertesacker is good, needs a little more time to adjust, then the perfect partner for vermaelen.
