Arsenal 3 Man City 2 Pre-season friendly
A bitter sweet end to our pre-season frolics with Gabriel being stretchered off following an accident in what seemed to be well over time. Just what we needed with Per already out and Kos maybe not yet ready for action.
But beating City is always a pleasure these days and gave us our 4th win out of 5 with only the draw at Lens to mar the pre-season record.

For weeks now, I have been listening to the fat lady warming up. How much pleasure can one receive when she did open her mouth, it was not a crow but a definite croak? And so far, not the hint of a whisper about Lasagna.

After a highly entertaining early afternoon at WHL, we started the proper game of the day with the chance of drowning out the fat lady’s singing. Will Newcastle do the honours? That would be fun. Even better would be the fact that it would save the league from having not one but two unrated sides leading the pack.

Consistency has been one of our big let downs this season. For once we proved that we can be consistent. Our first half was a continuation of the second half against Sun’land. Fortunately we had Petr making some great saves that kept us at 0-0 for the first half. How much I wonder, was the team affected by the minority of so called fans bearing idiotic placards? It can’t have helped.

The most interesting thing about this game was seeing Jack(on the field that is) for the first time in almost a year. Admittedly it was only for 10 minutes or so but he showed that he still knew how to play. Which is more than we can say about four of our side today.
It was a game that made that against Palace look positively exciting and unlike Thursday, when we showed touches of brilliance, this was such a reversal it was close on unbelievable.

Pic. Happiness is.

Such a pleasure to see a change from the desert-like performances of recent weeks. Maybe the players were spurred on by the number of empty seats that showed many supporters were more than a bit p’d off with them.
Whatever the reason, watching the team go for it last night at speed, was very welcome and the only disappointment was that we didn’t have more goals to celebrate. It could well have been 6-0.

This pic shows how good I am at forecasting our season. I really was confident of success this year but maybe starting with Santi's injury, the wheels fell off and we're left with a struggle to maintain 4th place.
This game summed up our season in a bleak 90 minutes. What more can one say?
Yet again we can't take advantage of our possession; yet again we concede a goal from outside the area (which I suppose is slightly better than conceding yet another header); yet again we embarrass ourselves.
